The Makeup Show Dallas – 10 Years of Beauty & Award Winning Artist James Vincent – Personal Interview

 

Hey Beauties! I was so honored to be apart of The Makeup Show Press for Dallas, Texas for the two day event. If you guys don’t know about what The Makeup Show is all about you need to! It’s a two day event dedicated to Artistry, Networking and Education. From brands such as NYX,  AJ Crimson, Anastasia Beverly Hill, Make Up For Ever and so many more.

The Makeup Show emphasizes on hands-on seminars and workshops led by key makeup artists such as Charlie Green, Joanna Schlip, Tegan Taylor, Louie Zakarian, Dany Sanz, Johnny Lavoy, Billy B., Kate Best, Sharon Gault, and many more. The brands and attendees benefit from the intensive one-on-one networking and career building environment the show creates.

I was able to spend some time with James Vincent and he helped answer my Top 5 question even as a Makeup Artist we all have room to grow! Please check out below for some amazing tips from the one and only! James Vincent has always been one of my biggest inspirations through my makeup artistry career, he is also the director of education for The Makeup Show. 1. What are some of your personal favorite cream products to create a modernized contour or highlight?

NARS The Multiple is the perfect product for creating natural shading and contour. Apply it with fingers to achieve the look the way Francois Nars intended. Graftobian HD Concealer Palette is the perfect cream for applying natural looking shadow and a flawless complexion. Kevyn Aucoin is a brand that has a wide array of natural looking creams that allow endless possibilities for perfect contour including their must have Candlelight Luminizer, which pairs perfectly with their sculpting powder. La Maquillage Professional is another makeup artist cult favorite available at Nigel’s and Alcone. The cream wax formula is ideal for applying contours that keep in place even in intense heat and humidity.

2. What are some tips and product recommendations for clients who have visible sun tan lines?

Gleam by Melanie Mills is a fantastic waterproof product that allows you to shimmer and shine that can blur even the toughest tan lines. Temptu Aqua Airbrush Foundations are waterproof and long-wear and can be airbrushed on or applied traditionally to minimize tan lines with maximum coverage and hold.

3. What tools would you utilize for correcting sun tan lines?

An airbrush like Temptu or a Kett Jet is a great choice many professional makeup artist would use to alleviate tan lines. A traditional brush like Crown Brush dual fibre blush brush or an oval foundation brush from Bdellium Tools or Mustaev can help to apply makeup to minimize tan lines and give you a great application.

4. If a client has a serious beauty emergency such as dry, chapped skin due to sunburn. How would you treat it? What products would help to get them camera ready for their special occasion?

Embryolisse Rosewater Toner will take away the sting, sensitivity, and redness from sun exposure. TwinMedix Exfoliator and Oxygenator are great tools to minimize texture and help heal the skin. Papaw ointment is a rich balm designed to ease the ache of burns and blisters and Embryolisse La Creme is a makeup artist favorite originally designed for burn victims that can soothe and prepare sun wrecked skin for foundation or other products.

5. Brows are a crazy big category here in Texas… I mean BIG! What are some of your favorite products besides known brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, M.A.C. and Makeup Forever that help give a light modern brow and that is not as harsh as Dipbrow Pomade type of products?

Kevyn Aucoin The Brow Pencil is perfect for drawing in fine hairs that look natural. Komiko launches with us for the first time here at The Makeup Show this year and their eyebrow pencils are the perfect size and shape for designing an elegant and natural looking eyebrow. Senna Cosmetics The Brow Fix is a beautiful natural gel developed by Eugenia Weston, the original brow guru, who developed such industry staples as the brow pencil.
